What an AI visibility audit actually measures

When someone asks ChatGPT for a marketing consultant in Vancouver and doesn’t name anyone, some businesses get named and most don’t. An audit measures which one you are, and why.

What we measure

We ask four engines — ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini — the questions a customer would actually type, without naming any business. Then we record two things separately, because they are not the same thing:

Why the second one is the useful part

Your own website is rarely what gets you named. In our own measurements, most businesses that engines name are named from someone else’s page — a directory, a ranking, a local publication. So the question that changes anything is not “how do I rank my site”, it is which pages the engine already reads, and can I be on them.

That is what the audit produces: the list of pages that decide your category, sorted by whether you can get onto them yourself, whether it needs an editor, or whether it is closed.

What you get

QuestionWhat comes back
Does the engine name you? Per engine and per question, with the raw answers kept
Which pages decide your category? Every cited domain, classified by how you get in
Which of those can you act on? Ordered by reachable-now, with who does it and how it is checked
Did it work? Before and after, measured with the same instrument

What this does not tell you

It does not promise traffic or sales — only appearing. It does not promise a position, because nobody controls that. Where we could not measure something, the report says not verifiable instead of zero: an engine that failed to answer is not a business that was absent.

Who does it

Bigfoot Intelligence Inc. is a small, family-run consultancy in Vancouver, BC. We are one team and one point of contact, not four vendors blaming each other.

We hand you measured numbers you can check yourself, not a report you have to take on faith. We make sure a person answers, and that the same person does the work and walks you through it.

We started in 2026 and we say so: you get the attention only a new, small firm can give.

Beyond the audit

We cover the whole picture: marketing and positioning, social media, websites, IT and automation. The audit is where most clients start, not where we stop.
